20 October, 2004Celebrating the World Savings Day
Every day is a Saving Day!
The Greek Postal Savings Bank is celebrating the World Sarvings Day every year. For 80 years, this day has been celebrated on 31st October (especially for this year, the celebration at schools will be held on Monday 1st November).
Developing a “saving culture” for children is one of the Organization’s main goals. To achieve this objective, numerous visits and lectures will take place at Elementary Schools (from 3rd to 6th grade) all over the country.
This year’s campaign slogan addressed to pupils is the following:
Save your cents for a rainy day!
Several posters and an amusing child-friendly leaflet reminding the importance of saving will be distributed to every child. Posters will also be placed in every participating school classroom, throughout the school year. The main concept of the communication project is “save not only today, but every day”.
The campaign will be supported by a radio spot addressed to parents, which will be broadcast in the most popular radio stations in Greece.
Mr Panos Tsoupidis, the Greek Postal Savings Bank President, comments on this occasion:
“The social aspect of the Greek Postal Savings Bank is broadly known. We feel really happy, because -this year too- we are enthusiastically celebrating the acclaimed World Savings Day.
We are aiming at making children aware of the importance of careful consumption, which will help them forming a critical approach versus over-consumption and adopting an instinct for saving “not only for today, but for every day”. We do believe that if we make the importance of saving deeply felt by our children, we can gradually contribute to the formation of a better and more responsible generation of citizens tomorrow.
Like Aesop’s fable of the grasshopper and the ant, we empathize with the ant’s mentality. Let’s help our children feel the same way!” Back to press releases |
