Greek Postal Savings Bank: at students’ services

The Greek Postal Savings Bank’s distinctive programme “Treasures from a money-box” will be transmitted to the schools of Western Attica. This is a cooperation between the Greek Postal Savings Bank and the Foundation of the Hellenic World, in order to impressively represent, to children from 9 to 14 years old, the history of money and saving in Greece.

This programme contributes to promoting the World Savings Day which is celebrated on October 31st every year. This year however, the Greek Postal Savings Bank, for the first time, is expanding its activities beyond the day’s festivities. Thus, the events related to savings will last for two weeks. In the programme, Elementary and Junior High Schools from the areas of Ano Liossia and Zefiri Attikis will participate, by approval of the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs.

This modern educational programme is enriched by a seminal project for children, the so-called “Creative Corner”. In this project, the young students learn the history of money and the value of the idea of saving through playing, with the help of specialist museum educators.
