31 October, 2005The “Treasures from a money-box” are journeying to the schools of Western Attica, with the patronage of Greek Postal Savings Bank
On October 31st, the World Savings Day, the first cycle of the programme “Treasures from a money-box” has been terminated. This initiative was launched by the Greek Postal Savings Bank – an Organization traditionally linked with the idea of saving and with respective educational efforts – and has been accomplished with the scientific contribution of the Foundation of the Hellenic World.
Mrs Roubini Georgakopoulou - Greek Postal Savings Bank’s Administrative Consultant in Communication - pointed out: “With the ‘Treasures from a money-box’ we attempted to introduce the meaning of saving and economic planning to the children in a understandable and enjoyable way. Moreover, saving up is interweaved with the Greek Postal Savings Bank for more than 100 years now, and always suggests the main conception and means of expression for our social orientation.”
The first cycle of visits started from the 1st Junior High School of Ano Liossia with the participation of 250 students and was concluded in the 1st Junior High School of Zefiri with the participation of 360 Elementary and Junior High School students, who demonstrated great enthusiasm, acceptance and interest for the material shown. These facts created new expectations and offered great pleasure to the programme’s launchers and patrons.
Following this successful experience and the positive comments by the students and teachers who already participated, the Greek Postal Savings Bank has planned the programme’s transition and continuance to other geographical areas. Meanwhile, until the new visit cycle starts, the “Treasures from a money-box” will be hosted in the the Foundation of the Hellenic World’s facilities.
