The Greek Postal Savings Bank, bearing in mind its role in society, came to the decision, at the Board of Directors meeting held yesterday, to provide initially the sum of € 2.000.000 as a minimal contribution by the Bank to the work of restoring the damage done and providing assistance to those affected by the disaster. This amount will be deposited in the special account created by the Ministry of the Economy and Finance in the Bank of Greece for "Aid to those who suffered in the fires".
Any interested party, whether person or legal entity, can come to any branch in the Greek Postal Savings Bank network, and deposit any amount in order to assist in the general effort to provide financial assistance to those hurt by the fires and provide aid to the areas that suffered. These amounts will be deposited daily into the aforementioned special account at the Bank of Greece.
Moreover, the Greek Postal Savings Bank is also participating in the provision of direct aid by the Ministry of the Economy and Finance to all those affected, in order that each household be able to cover their immediate needs.
The payment of this aid will commence tomorrow, Wednesday 29 August 2007 and will be carried out directly by the Greek Postal Savings Bank, through its network of branch offices and all offices of the Hellenic Post network located in the areas affected, without charging those entitled to this any commission or other administrative expenses.
Those entitled to receive this amount will have to complete the corresponding Application / Responsible Statement that the Bank will provide.
Finally, within the framework of the decisions of the State, we have decided to take direct measures, which will be announced within the next few days, concerning the financial facilitation both of those individuals affected who maintain a transactional relationship with the Greek Postal Savings Bank, and those who do not maintain such but who would like, due to their financial needs, to enter into a collaboration with the Greek Postal Savings Bank.
